I've got a friend who's 8 1/2 months pregnant. anyhow I only get texts from her when its important, last week while in the Bush (on safari) I got one from her, expecting it to be important and probable the announcment of a new child, instead its to let me know she's got an iPod Mini, and really excited about it.
Made me laugh.

Jb... you state it wont be powerful enough to run FCP... yeah cos a ?350 Dell computer will run Avid?? Dude get serious. If you want to edit a broadcast/feature style set up ?350 isnt going to get you that no matter what hardware/software you use.
OMG it doesnt come with a mouse and a monitor... so what? By allowing people to buy their own 3rd party keyboard/mouse/monitor people can shave bucket loads. Who uses the one button Apple mouse anyways?
I think you are seriously misjuding the point of this computer. Its not designed to be a powerhouse unit with a G5 to render broadcast quality colour correction and god knows what... its aimed at the kid who has bought an Ipod and wants a cool computer to go with it for surfing the web and chatting to friends. Its designed for the middle aged family who are sick of virus and spam and have heard from their friend that this mac would allow them to ditch the Dell in favour of spam free OSX.

For the record, I run FCE on a G4 350, with 750 megs of RAM. 5 years old. I'm thinking about getting a Mac Mini.

Well, good luck with that. Let us know how it turns out, I for one would be interested in seeing if it is any good. For all my slagging off of its capabilities, I've never actually run one.
